Need help on creating an animated material with a similar style to Image shown

Hey there, I’m very nervous asking and posting about things but felt I should do it regardless if there’s a chance someone might be more familiar with things like this.

I’m looking to try and create a material that has a similar look or design as the one used for Dark Shadow in this image

Not sure if there is a material function or a known way to recreate a similar kind of material to put on a model, plus the static like effect on top where the lines are moving, I tried to make something kind of similar using a noise texture and have it attached to a sine and Panner.

Pictures below are 2 examples I experimented with trying to create

Don’t know how to make a recording and save it so the images don’t show the material moving.

I’m sort of happy with the two experimental materials I made but I want to try and get it a bit closer to the first image so I wanted to ask whether there’s a better way to do it that I’m unaware of or if anyone knows a way to create something similar to the first image.

Really sorry if I haven’t been clear I found it kind of hard to explain myself.

Hey @SapphireStorm99. Welcome to the Forums!

Could you go into more detail about what elements you are looking to achieve here? Is it that you want the color to move in streaks over the material or something else? What is your material doing compared to what you are looking for?

Any additional specifics and information you provide will go a long way in solving your problem!

Hello @Quetzalcodename Yes I would like the colour to be able to move in streaks over the material if something like that could be added to it.

What my material is doing right now is that the colours pulse and mix, managed to get a short video example of what the two materials are doing right now.

I believe what I want to try and add is to have streaks go over the material like you said that move randomly like static on a tv effect.

If you need any more information feel free to ask for more I’ll try my best to explain if I missed anything out that you wanted.

Hey @SapphireStorm99!

Instead of using a sine, try simply panning your noise over so it’s not pulsing in and out.

Let me know if this works for you!

Ok, Going to give it a go, Though something came into my mind earlier.

If I wanted the streaks to go on top of the material as in keeping the pulsing material from the previous image but wanted to have streaks appear over the object where the colour of them would be there but the rest would be invisible, so like a floating static aura effect over the object. Would I just need to Duplicate the object, scale it’s size up slightly and then put the noise material on top?

I imagine if I did that I just need to find a way to make it so it doesn’t turn the noise invisible but everything else does.

Just wanted to put a quick update @Quetzalcodename I’ve used your idea and mixed in chroma keying with what I mentioned after and got a result close to what I’ve been looking for.

Planning on continuing to experiment with it to see what other results I can get with it. Thank you for your help, I’ll feel much more confident asking for help now.
