Been asked to make a model of a site and i did one a while ago, then asked to come back and do another section. Was wondering if there is someone who can talk me through it and offer some guidence please.

Could you share a little bit more details? Was it a drone scan? Are both projects georeferenced in the same coordinate system? Is the georefferencing accurate?
Merging two .rcproj projects is not possible. What is possible is to export the aligned components from each project, align those together, and create a mesh out of that.
I do have experience in merging datasets of the same area that were acquired at different times.
Because of the changed lighting conditions and the possible movement of objects on the site, the automatic alignment between the two components won’t have to work.
If both components are accurately georeferenced, aligning them can be as easy as setting Merge georeferenced components to Yes in the Alignment Settings.
Otherwise, the remaining option will be to use control points. You will have to identify the same areas in both components and place the same control points in both components. Use at least three components to merge components.
