Need help aligning components scanned with drone on different days.

Hello RC community,
I’ve scanned a building during deconstruction and have 1 common ground control and two common control points from each scan. How can I align components from subsequent days to the previous “master” component so that the outputs (ply & csv) will be aligned in Postshot?
My workflow is to create point clouds and camera poses from Reality Capture and import to Postshot to generate Gaussian Splats.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Perer

Hello Peter,
for such work is a good way to get the models into the same coordinate system. Probably local in this case (as this is basically just a visualisation).
Are your components georeferenced?
It would be also nice to have more GCPs as just one. But as you have the other same control points, those can be used as faked GCPs. You just need to set them so and copy the actual coordinates as their. And then you can use those coordinates also in other project as GCPs, which should provide the same coordinate system for your components.
Be sure you used those GCPs to provide new alignment and that you have set the same project and output CS for both projects.

Thank you for helping me resolve the issue! I was close but did not understand why imported ground control points were not respected during realignments. You helped me know that I was on the right path. Once I locked the camera poses, realignments worked!

Thanks!
Peter
