Need guidance for amount of polys/faces in my character models.

Hi Guys,

I am looking for some guidance in relation to polygon count. I have an HD model that current sits at 2.7M faces before retopo.

Can anyone give me an estimate of polygons for player and weapon models in say, Halo Infinite?

I am building an online arena shooter with similar map size, amount of weapons and animations as Halo.

I will however have more custom events (for example players can morph, upgrade weapons and there could be up to 50-100 NPC minions on the map at one time (which I will obviously keep much lower poly, and are relatively limited in their functionality simply attacking things) and I may want to add ships so players can fly between spaceship arenas at some point.

Given that somewhat brief overview. How should I budget my character models? Each player will have the same model and there will be up to 24 players in a game.
