Need an Advice

Hi everybody
I need an advice for a start point for creating outdoor environment scenes… for example a house or a multi-storey building…
Shall I start with a specified project in the market place… OR with a blank one…!!?

Best Regards

There’s really no difference between using a sample project or a blank project. They’ll give you the same functionality, essentially. Though, by using a sample project you’ll have access to the supplied assets included - which might come in handy.

If you have your own assets ready to go it could be beneficial to start a blank project. Reproducing the BPs/Materials you see in other projects is a great way to learn.

I personally would always start with a template project, because you already have plenty of stuff which you can use/edit and especially with setting up your character you can save plenty of time

But when you just want to create an environment, a blank project should be good enough

Thanks for reply
In fact; I’m an architect… wishing to use UE4 for my Arch / visulization…

To get a photorealistic result… There are 2 issues I have to take care of:
01- The Landscape surrounding my buidings…
02- The light system…

So; I’ll start with HaxO’s advice

Thanks again
and
Best wishes

For the realistic landscapes I would use something like world machine -> with this method you can create really realistic heightmaps

The built in terrain tools in UE4 are probably good enough for most arch viz walkthroughs. I mean, no one is really walking around in the environment, right? The environment is just surrounding the building so doesn’t have to be really complex.

There are some good videos on creating terrain in UE4, and you can get pretty good at it in about 2 hours or so. The engine comes with several textures for grass and stuff plus some skyboxes. World Machine is pretty awesome, but I would just try the terrain tools first. You probably don’t need the power of WOrld Machine.

**@ Vega; ** Thanks for your tips…

You both mentioned The “world machine”…
I do not know if it would be helpful for The Light system…?

Best regards

World machine is for the landscape, not for the light

For anyone who is interested in Outdoor scene Light system… I found something helpful as a start point,
