Need Advice on Components

Something I wanted to ask some of the more experienced modders in the community.
When dealing with BPs used as components in another BP (like inventories in structures), is it generally better to edit the Primal_anything_BP or the Component_anything?
The component is what ends up making a difference in the game, but I’m asking from a more technical and general common sense perspectives.

as for the inventories when you add a modded blueprint to the component the game will crash when you try to load the mod (it did that for me) and the only way to get it to work probaly is by dupe it in the component
