I would say that it’s really up to you. Since an output is FBX file, it doesn’t matter which 3d software you’re going to use. Personally I use 3ds for content creation and I don’t have any problems. There are of course some workflows that can be done faster with Maya (animation). I think you should focus more on game content in general. And remember… there will be always people saying Maya/Blender/3ds /other is better
