For the ocean issue, the problem is that the ocean mesh has holes in it for islands. What I do is just fill them with either terrain if you can, or build a small island from rocks.
As for the lighting and weather, it’s kind of complicated. Unless you either provide the map for someone to look at or start explaining in more detail I can’t really help you beyond basics.
One thing to check though is make sure all your lighting stuff is is in the same level (I actually have it all in a lighting level, but I’ve seen it recommended to have it all in your persistant level.
Also you may need to open each matinee and make sure each track has the correct actor assigned to it. The easiest way to do this is to go into the island map and open each matinee, then write down or screenshot all the settings as well as reverse engineer what actor is assigned to what track.
ahhhhhhh I was thinking of opening the matinees for the weather and looking but fear of breaking it beyond repair is stopping me.
What i mean by you can see the ground in the ocean…is that there is no effect that stops you seeing to the surface, like if you look at teh screenshots below…you can see what i mean.
What in the holy hell? why is the right side like this?
This right side is also where Nvidia card owners have this giant shadow over the island that slowly vanishes as you get near it,. AMD cards do not have this issue and the lighting is all even.
AS for weather, I guess I Will suck it up and look at what they have setup. I copied and pasted the weather cycles from the island map so I’m not sure why they are not working
another thing NOT working are the IBL MASTERS and Jungle lights I took from the small island map. The IBL orbs are all black now.
Looks all black, they all do.
I was actually thinking of making a sublevel map and putting all the lighting in it. but you say I should keep it all in Persistent?
I’ve gotten the lighting setup to work both ways, as long as everything is in the same level.
The black shadows could be caused by distance field shadows.
Select your directional light, then under the Distance Field Shadows section, uncheck “Use RayTraced DistanceField Shadows.”
BTW the default time of day effects when you load a map are not correct, so don’t judge your lighting based off of it. Open your matinee_timeofDay matinee sequence and scrub to a different time.
