Description:

Around 2 years ago i started to play around with unreal 4.x. and created this little nature scene: Nature Scene

For me it’s been a jaw dropping result, considering the fact that i just started to use this tool, and it only took me around a week. (i have plenty of DCC experience, which definitely helped me to get started).

After Unreal 5 came out i started to convert the scene to take advantage of lumen and nanite. I dropped the HDR i used for lighting in favor of the very cool and straight forward sky system with the nice looking volumetric clouds. Also i added a few more scenes.

This is the result: Nature Scene with Lumen and Nanite
(Viewport Screencast)

I learned most of the lighting and rendering techniques from Wiliam Faucher, and i’m very grateful for this!

I really wish that i get the chance to continue with this project, i strongly believe that it could be a very promising proof-of-concept for a short movie. I already tried to add MetaHumans to it and played around with them, it works like a charm…

This is really beautiful work. Every scene is a beautiful painting.
Such a pity it goes over the minimum of 30 seconds.
Fantastic work none-the-less.

Thank you, very much appreciated! Yes, i realized it afterwards. I was in such a hurry to meet the deadline (it was 6am in the morning in Berlin, and i worked the whole night trough) that i misread the requirements as a minimum of 30 secs, but it’s actually a maximum. So it’s totally my fault, i screwed it up this time.

You did brilliant work. I’m sure you learnt plenty too.
So not all is lost.
Greetings from South Africa to Germany.
