NASA being full-time badman with Orion once again!

a lot more than a robot
what do you have against humans exploring space? seems like an ace idea to me

Like what?

Pure physical agility and detxterity.
It took Honda years to teach Asimo how to pour in a glass of water without spilling everything.
Our four fingers plus an opposing thumb arent something that can easily be replicated technically. The prostectics industry can tell you a story about it…
Our two arms make the package perfect. We can pull, push lift, shove, etc with much more precission than a robot.
Just to see how carefull Opportunity has to drill for samples, so the drill doesnt get locked dead. A human could wiggle it, pull it, etc.
Or just imagine how complicated the unamnned version of the Hubble servcie missions would have been… (All those tiny screws, and the nthe door didnt shut)…
Another real world example: Hans Schmidt achieved on his lunar expedition more geological exploration than all Lunochod probes together.

PS: And of course capability for autonomous decisions: backing off when the slope starts to slide…

so you are saying a robot would make a far superior game than yourself?
and people tend to last a little longer than 10 years, and more importantly, they have the ability to learn and adapt.

Asimo is a bad example.

Robots are made to do specific things better and faster than us, on top of that they can work in any environment and location. All that cheaper and safer.

We are discussing about space exploration…

yes we are, my point is that humans are more capable of space exploration or any other complex task than a robot due to our physical and cognitive dexterity.
for example, the solar panels get dusty so the battery dies, what can a robot do, nothing its dead. what can a human do, clean it, problem solved, exploration continues.
KVogler`s example of pouring a glass of water pretty much sums it up.
