Hi there! I have a problem with nanite. When I enable nanite support in a static mesh it deforms the original mesh (see attached images). Furthermore, the Nanite visualisation mode does not work.
I find this odd because I had previously used nanite meshes and nanite visualisation successfully with 5.1. I cannot understand why this is happening in these new projects.
Thank you all!
Hey there @EDUARDOSCMR2000! Wow that’s a pretty large dispersion! Usually when I see deformation like this it’s because the faces on the model aren’t water tight but in your case it’s rather large. Nanite works best if there aren’t gaps at all in faces near each other. Usually it’s not too big of a deal, but for things like smooth lines next to each other like that, the deformation from nanite can be less effective.
What do the base mesh polygons look like? (in geometry view)
Did you ever solve this? Experience the same issuie with 5.3 - strange because nanite looked fine in 5.1
Nanite visualization is not working because your default RHI is in DirectX 11. Try changing it into DX12, this will fix the issue. Coming to the mesh deform even i had a similar issue so i imported it as skeletal mesh instead of static
