Is there any way to edit the instance (assembly parts) references in the UE editor once you have imported an assembly through the USD import workflow? They are locked in the details panel, but I’m wanting to test whether they can be switched for instances already in content directory.
Actually, I was provided the solution on another forum, so will share it here in case it helps others.
Nanite assembly part (or instance) references can be changed within UE by deleting (in content browser) the instance skeletal mesh you want to switch from. A “Delete Asset” dialogue box will appear, and at the bottom left is a “replace references” option. Use it to locate the new instance you want to bring in, click the button and after a while your assembly will be recreated using the new instance. This worked for me anyway.
