ok i am doing a survey on MOBA and i would like to know about atleast 5 names of great MOBA out there.
what you like about them and why some other MOBAs arent good.
I just know/play two MOBAs:
-Dota 2
-League of Legends
I like them because they have many characters + that teamplay is pretty important.
Leauge of Legends! that’s all I’ve really played of that genre. (Although I am of the opinion that any arena game is a MOBA. I know what you mean by MOBA.)
The only three I ever actually enjoyed was League of Legends, Smite and Heroes of the Storm.
I enjoyed LOL because I played it with friends. I enjoyed Smite because it was the only one of the genre that I personally considered required constant hand eye coordination, everything else was 5/10th math + 4/10th strategy + 1/10th player input unless of course you played specific characters. However I’ve seen some professional gamers abandon some of their skill shot based favorites due to the fact that auto targeting has a significantly lower rate of failure. When $XX,XXX - $X,XXX,XXX is on the line there is always someone similar to the skill shot based character that can do it without the need to manually aim.
Now Heroes on the other hand seems to have removed a good portion of the snowball effect, or at least as slowed it progression and speed up it’s decline and that is one of the main reasons it is my current favorite. Sadly they have taken some pretty extreme steps to combat the MOBA genre’s addiction to toxicity. I wish it wasn’t as strict in terms of communication as I would hate for constructive criticism to be mistaken with griefing but all and all from the complaints people have shown I’ve yet to see anyone say anything remotely productive before they received a suspension.
Dota 2: you have all heroes from scratch so don’t have to play so much just to get all the content and that you can deny creeps, thats what i like with dota.
League of legends: played the longest on this one 5000+ hours it’s really fun too bad you have to spend so much time just to get all the heroes and runes.
.
Heroes of the storm: less creep farm than the other ones more killing heroes and do the objectives the map offers.
Land of chaos online: third person view moba quite fun but very limited amount of heroes and items.
Strife: like Dota and LoL but i belive it’s aimed to a causal audience haven’t really played this much.
Heroes of the storm
Dota 2 / LoL are the only ones I’ve played that I enjoy.
If Heroes of the Storm didn’t have Warcraft characters in it I probably wouldn’t think of ever playing it again.
LoL is the only one that I’ve spent lots of time with.
I like laning + snowballing + being able to solo carry if you do things right.
Started Strife a few days ago. Seems to be cool, but is still in beta. Feels a lot like LoL, but the Champs are funnier.
Check it out on Steam for free.
SMITE is pretty cool. Its a MOBA from the 3rd person perspective. Basically LoL in TPP.
I like Heroes of the Storm, Much easier to pick up and get into and the matches are faster. With added objectives to mix it up between running down the lanes.
League of Legends, DotA 2, SMITE, Heroes of the Storm, Infinite Crisis. IC is going downhill quickly after obliterating their Dominion map and trying to focus on the laning map, which was by far their weakest. Having said that if they return Dominion I would probably spend a lot more time in the game as I love the DC Universe theme and the character mechanics they’ve chosen thus far. Overall it feels balanced and interesting.
Heroes of Newerth is the greatest of all MOBA games. But its the least advertised so few people know about it. No other MOBA is more hardcore and raw as Heroes of Newerth.
You need balls to play that game with that community. New players are just not wanted there, which is the issue I think. Its like wanting to pick up Starcraft brood war right now.
