I imported 5 Datasmith files from Revit (buildings) to my level, but the problem is that the level takes more than three hours to save.
Also, there are very large frame drops when moving around buildings.
And I have to add over 20 more Datasmith files.
Combine meshes is not a solution because in my project I am doing an asset management.
Reducing quality is not a solution either.
I’m working on Unreal 5.1.1
My device specifications:
I9-13900k
192 GB DDR5 DRAM 5200MHz
4 TB Gen4 NVMe M.2
RTX 4090 MASTER
I’m not sure how datasmith works with large files. However - 3 hours for saving sounds extremely long. I never worked on a project that takes that long to save. Maybe datasmith did some initial work and from now on saving takes less time.
There is only one tip I have: Create a sub level for each of the datasmith files. If you have to add something additional to the datasmith content then put that into a separate unreal level as well. This will keep your project from saving everything completely all the time. You would only save the parts that need saving because they have been changed.
