I am trying to import an FBX file but the problem is that when importing it my pc freezes, I left it for a while to see if it loaded, it was about 10 minutes or so and then crashed
I took the image from google but I think that is the same error that came to me
I tried it another two times and the same thing happens I even put the UE4 in minimum graphics and lower the resolution of my pc to the minimum so that it consumes less performance and even so it keeps crashing I don’t know what to do it just happens with that file I can easily open it with blender Cinema4D Even with the windows 3d viewer, although I also understand that opening it with applications to edit 3d models is not the same as importing it to UE4, applications to edit 3d models give less problems but well, I would appreciate if someone could tell me the problem if I optimize the model or something else makes it crash if necessary I can upload the model to mediafire to pass it on and have them download it so they can see what is wrong. I appreciate any help.
I do not think it is a problem with my PC but I do not know how much I need at least I have 8GB of ram a graphics card GTX 1050TI 4GB vRAM Intel core i5 8th Gen
Sorry if it is something very obvious but I don’t have much knowledge about this modeling and those things I know the basics of what a High Poly / Low Poly model is but I don’t know exactly the amounts of polygons they have
I want to add something else, the model is in PMX format, I converted it to FBX in blender, I don’t know if it has something to do with it, but at least in my case, on some occasions I transform a model from one format to another when importing it to UE4, I have an error but no I know if that I have something to do well I just wanted to add that
I meant 20 million polygons, as in a very complex mesh. While UE4 works with 8GB, you may be running into low memory issues - have you tried checking RAM utilisation as you work?
It is the only one that I cannot import, other models I import without problems, I tried to import it by deactivating the option to create skeleton and I created a static object and it was imported without problems but of course I need the skeleton too, I will leave you a link of the model that I try to import in case you need it, I uploaded it to mediafire:
(but I can import this without problems: Bob espoonja)
I imported it but it did put a considerable strain on my machine for a solid minute and gobbled down an extra 8GB of RAM (which was then released). It’s a fairly high quality asset:
The first thing I’d do, would be to get an extra 8GB of RAM. Having 16GB in the system is pretty much a minimum for any kind of sensible work (32GB is nicer if you’re dealing with complex scenes). That’d immediately address the bottleneck.
Try getting an additional 2 sticks of whatever random access memory you’ve got there already. If you only have 2 memory slots on the motherboard, you could always sell the 2x4GB sticks and replace them with 2x8GB.
