What in the …
IBL update, lighting fix…ocean turns grey…but in editor and in preview its fine.
Y?
That looks like a default grey material texture of the editor, however those are clearly water lighting effects that you can see with those water rippling faux lighting.
If that is the default standard grey material (just stretched the the entire size of your water plane without UV offsets. If it works in the editor that is because the file has been changed in the editor, and that file is not inside of your mod folder, but I’ve not made any maps so I don’t know their layout system, but if this is a game mod I don’t have any insight into your issue, as there should be no way to ever edit or manipulate that data and have a game mod put it into effect.
whoops…see below
So I checked the editor. I never changed anything in the materials for texture or ocean…but I did change the lighting in the IBL sets.
sigh…i don’t remember what i did…i screwed up big didn’t i?
Thats my water plane settings
If you’re not making a map or deliberately editing the ocean and lighting, you could do a verify to restore the weird coupling issue you have made.
But if you’re making a TC mod or MAP you will lose some data, it will be stored in a backup folder for you to swap out later if you want.
Hey now
Sorry for the late reply I was away.
I am making a map…this is a map that is already live…so right now the ocean is grey LIVE…GASP
so i need to fix this ASAP and in the safest way possible
I really need some help here and i’m begging at this point. I dunno how to do a Verify so I’ve not even tried that yet and because i don’t know what that touches or will remove that I’ve worked on…not sure its the best idea at this moment.
These are my ocean settings. the first is the water plane settings.
this is the water planes texture setting.
all of it seems right. I’m wondering if its something with the underwater IBL. Does anyone know the proper settings? I’ve checked the small island map but i’m not really noticing any difference.
Nanobot was kind enough to help me fix this but I do not want to keep bugging him as he’s got his own stuff to do. so i’m begging the forum here to see if someone has a solution.
I’m not that advanced using this editor still but I’ve gotten better. somethings like this are not really documented.
SOLVED. I changed the Material again in the texture and it miraculously fixed it
That would mean your previous material was linking to a local resource not being cooked and uploaded.
