My first tests and my first questions

Congrats for your nice software. Speed is very impressive facing the competition.
I don’t know if I’ll be able to afford it but for now I really enjoy RC.

Some of my tests are visible here : https://sketchfab.com/jmch

By the way, I have two questions :

  1. Is better to simplify a high quality mesh or reduce quality in the reconstruction parameters?

  2. If the alignment fails and puts two non aligned clouds in the same component. Is there a way to identify the images concerned by one cloud or the other?

Thanks

Hi Luzu

Thanx…

  1. Is better to simplify a high quality mesh or reduce quality in the reconstruction parameters?
depend on use, but recommend to recon on higher settings as get “sharper” more detailed results
and then even you simplify it the detail will be preserved ( depending on simplification level  )

  2. If the alignment fails and puts two non aligned clouds in the same component. Is there a way to identify the images concerned by one cloud or the other?

its easier to find “common spots” with coverage and use ControlPoints to get it together.

If it want not align its mostly because of the image overlap. Can post screenshot of the scene you trying to recon ?

Thanks for answers Wishgranter.
Here’s (attached) a screenshot of the scene.
I know the use of the control points, but if the project include thousands of images which ones must I choose for add the control points?

Hi luzu

so looking on the scene, you have problem to align all images or just few in the second component ?

need use ControlPoints like in this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8naLEtLqDY

for every CP need to be on at leas 2 images per component so need 4-6 imgs where the CPs are placed
look how im spread the CPs on the image…
when its finished use ALIGN…

Hi Wishgranter,

I restart whole process with less images and then add some step by step to keep more control.
RC succeeded with the alignment.
I found renaming images by catégories before working (close, far, left, right, up, down, part01, part02, etc.) make thereafter an easier workflow.

Thanx for help.
