My character's root is not at zero so his feet are not touching the ground

My character’s feet are not touching the ground. It seems that the z-axis is not at 0, even though in 3DS Max it is. What am I missing?

go into components of your game character and tweak height of skeletal mesh

Shouldn’t it automatically import in at 0 orientation?

yes it should but your character might not match collision mesh so it collide before actually touching ground just check if character height matching collision mesh

Check your collision capsule … that is normally the problem … move the model down to the bottom of the collision mesh and resize until happy.
