"Multiple crashes detected" error - Help needed

Recently I tried to play Fall Guys on Epic Games and launched the game only to be met with a “Missing Files” error. Like, one day it was fine and the very next it stopped working. I figured I just had to restart Epic Games or whatever and upon trying to relaunch I was met with the message “multiple crashes detected…”

Ultimately, I tried to reinstall Epic Games, which didn’t work. I also tried to repair it, but to no avail. I tried every method of troubleshooting I know, and looked at multiple Help Forums, but everything I’ve tried has failed. To list a few: I’ve repaired, reinstalled, and redownloaded the installer multiple times, restarted my PC, updated my PC (using the latest version of Windows 11) messed with the launcher files, etc.

I’m now at a dead end. I’m not particularly skilled with PCs, although I have some basic knowledge, but any help would be appreciated. I’m not clear if this is an issue with Epic Games or with my OS, graphics, CPU, or whatever else.

  • Sincerely, Aspiring Toaster

Greetings @BounsiCheese

Welcome to the Unreal Engine Community Forum! We generally work specifically inside Unreal Engine here on the forums. But, I love to dabble in game errors. I’m a bit of a gamer myself. I’d be happy to look into this with you. A few questions: Do you have a full error/error log other than the ‘Missing Files’? (Something with file names, error numbers, etc) Also, can you provide your full system specs for me? (CPU, GPU, RAM, storage space available, etc) Thanks!

Thanks for your assistance, my request being outside of strictly Unreal Engine “jurisdiction.”

Here are my PC specs:

CPU: 11th Gen Intel(R) Core™ i7-1165G7 @ 2.80GHz 2.80 GHz
GPU: Intel(R) Iris(R) Xe Graphics
RAM: 8 GB (7.80 GB available)

As for the error itself, there is no error log, only a “would you like to visit online support,” at which point it redirects to the ask questions page in Epic Games website. Here’s a screenshot of the error. For clarification, I only attempted to open the launcher once, so it would seem to be crashing itself.

That being said, I did find an error log via

Windows+R > %AppData% > Roaming > AppData > Local > EpicGamesLauncher > Saved > Logs

at which point a got a plain text file which I have pasted below which contains logs of both the launch and crash info. Unfortunately, since I am new or something I can’t put the actual file. I hope you can decipher this better than I.

Thanks!

Thanks! The specific part of that log that interests me is the ‘LogWindows: Error: Unhandled Exception: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION reading address 0x17574f90’ part. Have you looked into your GPU drivers to ensure that they’re up to date? (As well as your DirectX etc)

Well, I checked my graphics driver and it said it was up to date, however I realize that recently I’ve been unable to download a Windows update. I’m wondering if that has anything to do with it.

That being said, it does say in the driver updates tab that it was successful, so I’m a tad confused if it’s just a visual error or smth. It may be that this is the issue.

I tried to launch Epic Games and still got the crash error, so I’m gonna guess this graphics update here is the problem.

Also, I don’t know enough to know what a DirectX is.

This is the Graphics Update tab with the thing saying it was successfully updated supposedly.

I see. The error we’re looking at could be caused by the graphics drivers not being up to date. But, there are other things that could cause it too. I would start by trying to get your Windows update fixed and ensure everything is up to date.

Well, the update issue was caused by not having enough space I think, because after I cleaned up some files the update installed properly.

Still, I reinstalled Epic Games and it still wouldn’t run, so I tried restarting my PC to see it that helped, which it did not. I reinstalled and repaired Epic Games again, as well as checking to make sure my graphics driver was up to date. Still, nothing.
