Multiple Component Problem with full body scan

Hi everyone,

I love this software it gives great results and thanks for that!

Now I’m trying to get to the best possible results and I couldn’t help but notice that from time to time I end up with many components after image alignment.

In this given example I get 8 components out of my 3D scan where the biggest component contains 73 images from a total imageset of 90 images.

As far as I understand this means I have to work with only 73 images for alignment and reconstruction and 17 images are left un-used.
This is a pity as it would offcourse improve the quality of the final mesh if I can use all the 90 images for reconstruction.

How can I merge these multiple components into 1 component so that I can use all 90 images for alignment and finally reconstruction?

I have already tried looking for an answer on this forum but couldn’t find.
What I did see was some settings which I copied into my software but it didn’t do the magic for me.

In attached screen shots you may see all the settings which I found on this forum and which I use before starting alignment.

I look forward for your assistance, thank you!

Hi Sander,

you can use control points to get the missing images into the larger component. You can see more information in this point Faster workflow for adding ground control points

Hi Sander Diels

Best if you use the XMP workflow. Align properly at least one dataset -> so that all cameras are aligned, good lighting, good subject clothing etc. When you have good alignment, select all cameras and use the METADATA ( XMP ) tool and export cameras as LOCKED.
Then get the exported XMP files into a good dataset. COPY them to another problematic data ( JPG folder ), load in RC and hit align…
