Hi folks,
I have a new config used for photogrammetry (RC and Photoscan) and for scanner processing (Trimble RealWorks).
Previously i had 2 GTX970, but Trimble RealWorks needs a Quadro card, so my config is next :
- CPU Core I7 5930K (3.5Gz, 12 cores)
- RAM 64Go
- SSD 500Go + HDD 3To
- GPU : GTX 970 + Quadro K2200
RC is able to use these 2 diffrents GPU ? How to use in priority the GTX that have more cuda cores ? Is it possible to add a GTX970 in addition and use these 3 GPU ?
Thanks in advance.
Best regards
Hi Yoz
You can use all GPUs in the system without a need to set anything in RC but if you will have Quadro K2200, there I recommend you to DISABLE it in RC, as it is a low-performing card regarding COMPUTATION so it would slow down the 2x 970 GPUs.
Hi,
Thanks for your answer.
Why the Quadro K2200 will low-performing the computation ? It has 4Go Ram and 640 cuda cores. If i have only one GTX970, it’s better than nothing to let the K2200…
And to how to disable a GPU in RC ?
Regards.
Hi Yoz
Because it is OLDER technology, like the 9xx series, and the CUDA compiler needs to do changes etc. I have tested it with different architectures and can confirm the slow-down of the reconstruction process.
You can disable them in RECONSTRUCTION -> SETTINGS -> DEPTH MAPS CALCULATION.

Thanks a lot !
I hope i can put 2 GTX and 1 Quadro on the motherboard

Hi,
Now I have 2 GTX970 in my config. I have a question about Nvidia SLI : Is it worth using this technology with 2 GPU on RC steps ?
Thanks.
Regards.
hi Yoz
the SLI technology is useful ONLY in GAMING, not for COMPUTATION and, in principle, using SLI you will get a few % slowdown… So SLI is useless in COMPUTATION… And as I have already pointed out, the SLI will be completely removed in 1-2 years…
