MS Default Material Substrate Question

Hi. Im working on a project using quixel megascan assets and surfaces in UE5.3. All the MS Default materials are now substrate based, even though I dont have substrate turned on. This of course is making the MS Materials black. Is this now the normal set up for MS Materials? Any advice here would be great. Im not familiar with Substrate and thought it was experimental. Im forced currently to have it turned on if I want to see any surface shading. cheers

I see a legacy conversion node on that graph: are you sure you have not enabled Substrate for that project, saved the converted material and then disabled Substrate? Because Substrate is not backward compatible as mentioned in the documentation. Once the conversion node is added and the material saved, all previous links and setup are gone.

If that is not what you did and if there really are some Quixel MS material using Substrate once downloaded, then please report which one. That would be a mistake.
