Mp3 Sound Que?

How do I add an mp3 file to a Sound Que? I can only see an option to play a .wav file. I have a wav version too, but it fails to import so I gotta use the mp3, but the mp3 cannot be played. This is confusing… why is there only an option to play a file format that cannot even be imported?

Hey @anonymous_user_59e1dfd2!

Unfortunately, .wav is the filetype that Unreal uses. I do have a few questions though:

  • What error are you getting when trying to import you .wav file?
  • What method are you using (drag and drop/using the import function in Engine)?
  • Would you mind sharing a screenshot of whatever error pops up if there is one?

Any additional information you can provide will go a long way in solving your problem!

If you’re able to open the wav file in a program like Audacity, try re-exporting it as a WAV file. Re-exporting almost always fixes any issues I’ve ever had with bad wav files.

I got the invalid file format or something like that. I used the import button in the asset explorer.

I know I just don’t want to damage the quality by reencoding it.

If you import the wav audio into Audacity and disable dithering before exporting as wav there is no degrade in quality.

Go to “Edit menu > Preferences > Quality” and change dither to “None.”
