Hi, I moved everything to another drive since my ssd got filled up with cache from ue4 so I redirected it to another drive and move install location to that drive and all content, now whenever I work in my same project it works very slow. Is there something I can do?
All assets and textures has been compiled and I have restarted and everything!
Is the another drive an HDD?
I moved all my things from my ssd to my hdd so all my things involving epic and unreal is on my hdd now
How much HDD utilisation in the Task Manager can you see when things go slow?
ctrl+shift+esc → Performance tab
well I tried now and it goes to 100% when it goes slow or freez for a sec but other than that it is not more than 7%
Not really, I have no issues with my hard drive. Checked for any fault or errors. I got none but as soon as I re installed unreal launcher to my hdd drive it behaved like that but I still ahd my project on my hdd when I had my launcher on ssd. guessing that the program was faster becasue it was running on my ssd but saving on hdd instead of running and saving on hdd
Alright, thanks! I will try to re-install unreal and put it on my ssd but put the unreal appdata local on my hdd so the program runs faster but stores junk on my hdd. Thanks again!
I guess you’ve answered your own question here.
Generally speaking an HDD will be the slowest component of a computer these days. You could create a partition, format it and keep stuff there - the bottlenecking should be somewhat less frequent with a drive that is not heavily fragmented but no guarantees.
