Upon starting the preview build of 4.14-pre1, the mouse cursor versus actual coordinates that UE4 sees is different. Note, I’m using a Retina Macbook Pro 15" with three external non-Retina monitors. When the cursor is over a button, the button does not react to the cursor. I have to move the cursor about an inch above the button or widget to make it activate. As it stands, 4.14-pre1 is unusable on my setup. I do not have these cursor glitches on any of the previous versions of UE4.
It seems to have broken my ability to use umg menus almost entirely. I am on windows 10 so I doubt it is platform dependent.
Hello Michael Y,
I have a few questions for you that will help narrow down what issue it is that you are experiencing.
Quick questions:
- Can you reproduce this issue in a clean project?
- If so, could you provide a detailed list of steps to reproduce this issue on our end?
- Could you provide screens shots of any blueprints/widgets that may be involved as well as the issue itself?
I cannot even open a clean project because the project selection window is where I first encounter the bug.
I installed a clean 4.14p1 on my Mac. When I launch 4.14 from the Launcher, I get the project selection dialog box. When the mouse cursor is on the dialog box, it acts as if it is selecting something an inch below. If I try to open a project, it prompts me that the version is mismatched - since the cursor is not functioning properly, I cannot select what conversion option I wish to proceed with.
It does not occur on a single monitor setup (built-in 15" Retina display). I’m certain you understood this, but UE 4.13.1 (and older) does not exhibit this problem.
Setup
- Retina Macbook Pro 15" Late 2013 (GT 750M 2GB)
- 24" 1080x1920 (portrait) via HDMI
- 27" 2560x1440 Thunderbolt Display
- 27" 2560x1440 Thunderbolt Display
- Mac OS X 10.11.6
This almost seems like an issue with the launcher and your specific setup. Can you try unplugging your additional monitors and testing to confirm it still occurs with a single monitor setup?
Can you also provide me with you full system’s specifications so I can test on a similarly compatible machine?
Let me know if you have further questions.
Thank you,
So I ran a quick test on my end and did not get the precision error you are reporting. I plugged the Mac (Retina display) into an external 27" monitor via HDMI cord and had no problems selected anything in the launcher.
Since you are experiencing this issue with the launcher as well, this might not be an engine bug, but a launcher issue. Did you make any changes to how your displays are scaled? That is honestly the only thing I can think of that would cause this issue.
You setup is quite unique and we don’t have the hardware bandwidth to test a triple mac external monitor setup. If we cannot reproduce the issue using a single external monitor, then this cannot be deemed as an engine bug, but rather an issue elsewhere.
Let me know if you have further questions or need additional assistance.
Thank you,
