Motion Controller Events Not Firing

I’m in Unreal v 4.12.5 and I’m completely new to unreal. I’m sure I’m missing something completely obvious but I’ve tried just about everything I can think of to get an event firing when pressing the trigger on either hand controller for the Vive. The weirdest thing about it is that it works just fine if I’m trying to detect a keyboard or mouse input. I’ll attach an image of the most recent thing I’ve tried.

I have also tried creating an action mapping (mapped to motion controller left trigger) in the input section of project sections and listening for that to happen.

I’ve tried adding that snippet of code where you enable input but I don’t think that’s my issue (being that key presses on the keyboard are read.)

I’ve tried enabling auto receive input on the blueprint in the scene but there was no noticeable impact. What am I missing here?

I know it’s been a few weeks, but if you haven’t figured this out just yet, the Vive controllers will be mapped under the “MotionController” inputs.
