Hi everyone,
how can I import custom morph targets in the new Ue5 version? I wanted to select the “import Morph targets” option in Metahuman, but unfortunately it has been removed. no matter how I try to import it, ALL morphs are missing after Blender?
Not sure about metahumans but with other skeletal meshes you need to:
import the mesh → open the mesh and select “Import Morph Targets” in the import settings → reimport the mesh → reopen the skeletal mesh asset.
Then your morph targets appear.
Just bumping this as I’m seeing it on my project in 5.5. I think it may be related so adding information if so,
I was editing a set of metahuman heads and going through the export/import process when I noticed I’d lost all of my morph targets when importing to unreal from blender. The Shape keys(Morph Targets) are present in the source blender file and are exported as a part of the FBX, but they do not get imported into unreal even when import morph targets is selected during import.
I was able to occasionally get morph targets into unreal from blender by exporting from unreal and using a 3rd party plugin to transfer shape keys from a mesh that has it to the UE exported mesh. But in my instance they didn’t transfer properly. Debugging now to see if I can get everything to lineup. Heres helpful links for anyone that comes across this thread:
