Morph Targets from many files

Hello.

I am in vicious circle.

I have some character with >110 Targets Morphs.

And I can’t directly import it into the UE Editor. Because of that: https://answers.unrealengine.com/questions/342693/incorrect-import-of-the-fbx-files.html . OK.

And I can’t re-export that mesh through (with) 3DS Max 2016, because Morpher in 3DS Max 2016 could contain only 100 Morph Channels, but my Character has >110 Targets Morphs.

Is it possible to import Targets Morphs from many files into the 1 Mesh in UE?

I have tried to do that, but UE Editor crashed on importing of second file: Crash on FBX import - Platform & Builds - Epic Developer Community Forums

How to import character with > 110 Morphs?

Thank you!

Solution:

  • Install 3DS Max 2015.

  • Export FBX file with mesh, that contains first, for example, 50 Morph Targets and name that file like you want.

  • Import it to the UE.

  • Export second FBX file with mesh, that contains first, for example, 50 Morph Targets and name that file with first FBX files name. Ie, both files must have same name.

  • Import second FBX to the UE, to the same file with Rewrite option.

As result, in UE will be mesh with Morph Targets from both FBX files.

Key point - it work with 3DS Max 2015 and doesn’t work with 3DS Max 2016.
