More colours for windows

The colour coded selection of cameras (or other objects) is very handy and easy to use once you get the hang of it.
However, on the 1+2+2+2 (?!?) Layout (the one with the most windows), it is much more difficult to fill the remaining windows.
I think it is only possible to drag and drop from the 1D image list only, right?
Then it would be great to either extend the drag funktion to 3D and basically every instance where the image/camera is listed (control points or components) or you could just introduce more colours.

Hi Gotz,

You are right, you can just drag & drop. But 1+2+2+2 layout is optimizes mostly for control points placing and in general you will have 1 layout cell filled with a 3D view and one eventually with “etalon” image. You need to drag&drop this image to assign it to view.

You can start drag & drop from the 2D view by holding the “ctrl” when starting dragging “left mouse button + move”. If you hold the “shift” key during image drop, then you will assign the dragged image to the current view cursor instead of replacing the cursor.

To assign cursors to 2D view you can use ctrl + 1/2/3/4.

I also often wish I had more colors too. I end up “uncoloring” windows (ctrl-drag from window to self) to free up my colors, which is annoying.

Also, I’d really love a 1+2+2+1 view. If I’m doing control points with only four images then I have one column of the two registered, a second column with the unregistered or second component, and then the 3D view. The sixth pane goes unused and is a waste of space.

When I’m trying to do control points with 6 images, I use the 2+2+2 for images (plenty of pixels on my 4K display) but the fact that I can only really control four of the windows at a time and have to control drag to the other two is a pain in the ■■■.

p.s. what is “etalon”?

Has this been implemented now or will it be in the future?
