Modular Control Rig doesn't work in packaged builds

I’ve been trying to create a sequence with humanoid characters, and to animate them I’ve been using a control rig track based on a modular control rig.

In an editor build, the entire sequence, including the control rig track, plays as expected. However, when playing the sequence in a packaged build, the whole sequence will play as expected, except for the control rig track.

It’s worth noting that all that I do to set up the modular control rig is to drag and drop the different body parts to the corresponding sockets. It’s my understanding that this is all that’s needed in order to correctly set up the modular rig, but maybe this is my mistake.

To confirm that the modular control rig is the issue, I created a couple of sequences in a fresh, blank project. In one of them, I’m using the UE5 mannequin plus the built-in control rig that comes with the third person project. This one works as expected in a packaged build. Then, I created a second sequence, using the default UE5 manny as well, but with a modular control rig this time, and, as said earlier, all the tracks of the control rig will work as expected, except for the control rig track.

Any help regarding this will be greatly appreciated, as I’ve been fighting this one off for a while.

Having the same issue, I’m guessing maybe control rigs don’t get packaged or something?

That’s what I thought too, but I double checked and they do get packaged.

Anyway, modular control rigs are not yet production ready, so I assume that these packaging issues are within what Epic considers acceptable for now.

I know 5.5 introduced new features to modular control rigs, so maybe they fixed this while they were at implementing those. I don’t know because I haven’t had he chance to try out 5.5 yet.

I’m currently working on the UE 5.5.4 but modular control rigs still don’t work.

I’ve also checked if there is a difference between regular control rigs and modular by creating simple sequence anims and then packaging it. There is a difference: the non-modular rig DO work in the packaged build (at least dev config), but the modular doesn’t.

Does anybody know if any support / fix for this coming in the nearest engine releases?

Yeah, my tests pointed in the same direction: regular control rigs work fine, but modular don’t. For now, I’m still resorting to baking the animation, although I may give it one last try with 5.6
