I’m trying to get a pipeline from C4D to Unreal working using Datasmith. I can import the scenes with all animations, lights, geometry etc. no problems, but it seems to be ignoring all modifiers. It doesn’t bake them down at all.
When you save your Cinema 4D scene for Melange, every generator in your scene is baked down to a single triangular mesh that represents the total procedurally generated geometry of the object. Similarly, every deformer is baked to a single triangular mesh based on the final state of the deformer. Datasmith imports each of these triangular meshes as a single Static Mesh Asset.
Am I missing something?

Just an update on this… Turns out on this specific test, it’s because it doesn’t convert primitives to meshes.
I still have a problem on the other main working files - it’s completely ignoring modifiers (bend, twist, stretch and squash).

If you make it into a single mesh you can bring it over
I don’t try to bring modifiers over just bake it all down
