So uh, I’ve been trying to use this blender thing for modeling. This is my first time modeling and I’ve only made one good model of a person, and it looks like a stick figure. When I say stick figure, I mean he is literally made of 3 spheres, one torus, and a bunch of boxes. Can any of you give me some help/tips/tricks/hints/whatever else that might help to get me on my path to modeling greatness?
designing and modeling good characters is hard to master you should probably start with interior or other things that are more simple.
look for tutorials on youtube

There intro tutes are free: https://cgcookie.com/flow/introduction-to-blender/
A lot of the other stuff isn’t free anymore, but it’s not that expensive and is worth its weight in gold.
Blender recently added the support to paint normals ontop of the mesh
