Modeling Tools -- Can you do a radial-extrude?

Is there any way to do a radial-extrude, like with the faces that loop around something like a cylinder? So that all the faces equally project outward in all directions?

So I can add some finer details to something like an Oil-barrel or a light-post?
Because currently when I try to extrude the faces that loop around a cylinder they just move as a single unit, which is far from what i want.

You could use the polyEdit/ offset tool and adjust the direction mode, selected triangles normal even, might be the best place to start.

Ahh that did it!!! Exactly what I was looking for, thank you! I kept thinking I had to use the “Outset” tool, but I couldn’t for the life of me figure out how to get it working how I wanted.
