What programs do you use to model your in game characters and texture them?
Blender and sculptris for now, untill i can get my hands on cinema4d prime and 3d coat
For modeling, the industry standard tools are 3DS Max, Maya, and sometimes Modo. Blender is popular with indie devs because it’s free.
For sculpting, Zbrush, Mudbox, 3D Coat. Sculptris is free and simple.
For texturing, Substance Designer and Substance Painter, DDO, Photoshop, Zbrush, Mudbox, and Mari. Along with some procedural texture generation and baking in whatever 3d app you use, depending on the game or asset.
Blender is free, if you have the money then there’s 3ds Max/Maya/etc.
Substance is a really good texturing program
Mudbox is a cheap option for texturing. I recently also bought quixel which really speeds up creating textures for hard surface objects. but in the end i still export those maps to mudbox for final touches
it all comes down to what you are more comfortable in using and what fits your wallet
Maya+Zbrush+Substance+Xnormal+Crazybump+Gimp or photoshop
