Modeling Mode

If I bring in a model from Maya, can I edit it with the UE modeling tools?
For example, can I cut into the Maya model can I bevel some edges?

I have turned on the modeling plugins. I can cut into a UE cube and use the PolyEdit tools. But I cannot select the Maya model and cut into it and I cannot bevel any edges.

Is there a way to edit Maya models with UE PolyEdit tools?
