Modeling a sword w/ visual effects

OK so I have been working with blender and curious importing it into unreal. My end goal is to make a sword or dagger or some kind of blade in blender then add some effects to it. Either adding some flames or blood dripping from the blade, just a visual effect to it. My question is do I need to make a particle effect in unreal and can I apply it in unreal to the blade? Or is that something I need to do 100% in blender with the effect then import to unreal. I’ve been looking around and can’t find anything on the topic. Thank you for any help sent my way and hopefully I explained what I’m trying to do well enough.
