Mocap to MetaHuman retargeting (mesh distortion)

Hi everyone,

Has anyone experienced any mesh distortion issues with metahumans after retargeting mocap data (rokoko)?

For some reason the metahuman calf_knee_r bone has weird translations applied to it that cause it to collapse when bent. The left knee is fine.

I’ve checked all the retargeting settings and everything seems fine, I’ve also tried playing around with the translation retargeting options by setting everything to animation relative, but the only thing that seems to help is deleting the two bones, which isn’t really a solution.

The problem only seems to get worse when I re-export the animation from the sequencer after using the control rig to clean it up.

Has anyone come across anything similar?

Found the issue and the solution. The Metahuman animbp was causing the deformation. The solution was to bypass the control rig within the bp from the input pose straight to the output pose.

The only real solution without losing the post-process deformations across the body was to uncheck additive within the m_tal_nrw_calf_r_pose file, or remove calf_knee_r from the pose driver in the blueprint, or both.
