LOL⦠I think we have a really nice start to that clone. And I didnāt say I wanted a clone, CS said it was his goal. LOL ⦠I would like to see more meat added to the MMOKit though. Combat system⦠how ever simple⦠for both single player and group⦠a couple other things have been asked for that CS has said āthat is more your game specificā but⦠IMHO they were part of that clone he mentioned.
On another level, because I have no programmer abilities, Iād like to see more parts added to the MMOkit, so I can try and mod it to something closer to what I want. But, again, I am not making a game for the massesā¦

First of all, I donāt intend the kit to be a tool to make clones of WoW. I want the demo to have more and more features of WoW, since itās the game most people are familiar with. Since then, Iāve added equipment, quests and abilities/hotbar, which are indeed present in WoW. However, itās possible to make a completely different game, a sandbox game or a 2d game.
The strongest part of the kit is not in gameplay mechanics but in database connection, login/registration, global chat/party server, etc.
The mechanics of WoW (vertical slice without all the levels and models) would take much less time. Also, each year it takes less time to create a game, the indie games that are coming out nowadays could only be made by AAA in the 90s.

So Im making a Select Character scene, but when I click on the character it clicks through and onto the landscape⦠ā Ignore this I got it to work
It was the Collision data on the objects and the landscape I had to changeā¦
Unreal Engine beats out WoW in graphics in the first place. Players are attracted to what they see wayyyy before gameplay. Code Spartans setup is more than capable enough to build something greater than WoW.
To be honest though, Im talking to another name in the unreal engine community that is in the process of creating a multiplayer set up similar to Code Spartan. After he builds a tutorial I will be working with him to integrate more modern features, as I too plan to make an open would game.
I will likely be creating a thread as an introduction to this guys setup. I have tested it with him multiple times on both his host machine a vps much much weaker than softlayer. On a side note you guys ought to learn character development, otherwise it pretty much leaves you at square one no matter whos multiplayer set up you use. WoW characters aint nothin special.
Are you referring to EMOS or another endeavor?
Not familiar with the name EMOS. Is that another project?
Edit: just looked at it. No this is totally different. The guy Iām working with already has many necessary features implemented. Most of which deal with the network portion. He basically wants everyone to have a basic plan of attack in regards to online multiplayer in Ue4, as well as the ability to change the game with little effort.
I simply plan to add an addition to this set up where I add on popular mechanics, such as ālock onā + (dodging out of another players lock on), random level streaming (Minecraft), and combo creation where players can personalize their own melee attacks. Iām more of a competitive play pvp person. I believe games should actually require mental skill and reaction time, not 100% hand eye coordination.
Could you specify what you mean by ānecessary featuresā? If itās going to enable MMORPGs, such as the MMO-Starter Kit does, then it will need to provide a range of functionality that other sorts of games donāt need.

Features like inventory, character creation, ans skill trees. The main feature i think worth mentioning is reliability. Everything works over the internet painlessly

I am considering picking this up, however I had recently picked up another asset that seems to launch the same way, by the icon in the folder. I cant seem to get those assets into the viewpoint editor to make changes. Obviously you can make changes to this starter kit. How do I get it into the editor

I want to clarify, you want to be able to change the icon that launches the game? If that is correct, open cleanthirdperson.uproject, then click on file in the upper left corner and package product, then click packing settings. Click on Description on the left. File that all out⦠make sure your thumbnail is 192x192. I save mine in the kitās main folder. Then, on the left side of the screen scroll down to platforms select windows. On the right you will see āGame iconā this icon should be 128x128.
When you package the game you should have your icon as the launchable .exe now.
(Please keep in mind this is only for a windows game setup. I have no exp. in any other setup.)

Iām sorry for the confusion, Thanks for the Response Tarly, but what Iām worried about, and It may be obvious after I purchase the kit, is how do I open it in the Unreal Editor I have another asset that I purchased that opens the way it is described in the documentation but it brings me to a playable state but does not allow me to open it in the editor to make changes or see the blueprint layouts.

I purchased it, havenāt followed the directions completely yet, I was hoping I could just open it in the UE4 editor and get to work, but it looks like I may have to just take a step back, and setup those servers as described in the documentation before I can start working. Unless you know of another way :). But when I try and load into UE4 editor I get several errors, thatās why I figure I have to setup the server side components first.
