I’m very impressed with Mixamo and Fuse, so last night I bought a subscription.
However, I can’t find the rig that works natively with the Mixamo sample pack controller. Ideally I just want to drop in custom characters for now and use the controller and animation blueprint that came with the sample.
Has anyone been able to figure it out? Is it a particular finger setup?
You need to get your character rigged with Mixamo’s autorigger. Then bring it into UE4 > right click on free animations that come with Mixamo pack > Retarget by selecting your new character’s skeleton.
Rigging configuration? You mean on Mixamo’s side? Autorigger doesnt require you to do any adjustments for rigging anymore as far as i know. If you mean retargeting, my experience is limited with transferring those free animations between the free characters unfortunately. Can you post a video of the problem?
Edit: Also can you check if your character’s bone names are the same as free ones’?
I was given some rigging choices to do with hands and fingers when I exported my character last night. No worries, I’ll go through the process again once I’m home tonight and see if I can make better sense of it. Thanks!
Also, what would you recommend as a good video capture tool for this kind of thing? I was using Shadowplay but it seems to have stopped working with UE.
Oh, my mistake. Now it occurred to me that Autorigger does it automatically with Fuse characters only. Well in any case, it should work as long as bone names and hierarchy is the same so i dont know what is up with it. :\
You can use Fraps to capture video. It will give you a warning about Dx11 but you can ignore it. Just make sure you close the editor before Fraps when you are finished. They say Dxtory is a lot better than Fraps but i found it way too complicated.
