when importing a Vectorworks model, either by Directlink or udatasmith format, all my materials that include a texture from Vectorworks, are turning into blank (white) materials.
When I look at the material in TM, the applied texture is "T_Generic_BC.T_Generic.BC".
(Some other materials are without texture but with a RGB color code. These show the correct color.)
The exported textures are present in the Assets map and I can manually assign them to the materials, but this is not ideal.
Also, when updating the model, all manually assigned textures will be reset to the blank texture.
In VW 2021 all works fine, my current VW 2022 SP3 has these issues. (I haven't used Twinmotion for SP1 or SP2)
Tried in Twinmotion 2021.1.4 and 2022.1.2 and both get blank materials.
Thank you for posting in the community your questions and we would need to investigate further why this is happening would you be able to contact us and report a bug by following this link: https://twinmotionhelp.epicgames.com/s/case-community-page
Please provide the udatasmith file and the assets folder that gets saved with it so we start looking at the issue. If you can also provide a Vectorworks file that would be helpful as well so we can trouble-shoot the direct-link.
Yes, I occasionally have this problem using TM 22 and SketchUp 22 through the datasmith link. Inexplicably every once in a while I'll reopen a working TM file that has been functioning fine and TM will complain that all the assets have moved. I don't think I have changed file structure on mm HD, I try to redirect TM toward the assets in the appropriate folder but even when opening all surfaces are white and empty. I am not sure what circumstances prompt this as it does not happen every time, but regularly. Deleting and reimporting (not syncing) the .skp file restores textures from SketchUp but not the TM materials previously applied.
I have not answer but I do experience this all white lack of textures form time to time.
Thank you for the response and info! Most likely it's something I'm doing on my end. Yes I'm on a Mac and I thought I understood the cache directory but that could well be the problem. I'll do some reading up.
Thank you for the feedback and sorry to hear you are experiencing missing textures as well occasionally with Sketchup. If you are on a Mac make sure to define another cache directory. Also using the resource collector is helpful as it gathers all the textures in a folder.
If you are still having missing textures after changing the cache directory and doing resource collectors when applicable, please contact us directly so we can best investigate the cause.
