Missin data in my level after upgrade

So i am using remote desktop to connect to our university computers to do my project. The last time I saved my work everything was fine but apparently the university upgraded unreal engines to 4.8 (ithink the previous one was 4.7) and i get the error saying my project was built with a different version so i opened a copy but the level was blank so i closed it and converted the project. The Level is loaded now but it’s not the last saved work and it’s from long ago. My deadline is in almost 10 days i can’t start the project. Can anybody please help me?

Hello,

  • How did you open a copy of the level?
  • Go into the project folder, and look in the Content folder. Look through the files to see if your .umap file exists in there.
  • If this is not the latest version of your map, try checking the Saved->Backup folder, which stores some backups of your assets. You may be able to find another version of your map there.
  • Also, for future reference, if you’re ever working on an important project, ensure that you are using source control so that you do not lose any work. Here is a link to our source control documentation for your reference: Using Perforce as Source Control | Unreal Engine Documentation
