Misaligned or poorly detected camera positions/settings

Hi,

I’ve recently created my own high-end photogrammetry rig using 50-ish Nikons recently and I’m exclusively using your software for the processing. However, I noticed something peculiar in the camera alignments.

a) Several lenses are being detected with the wrong focal lengths. For instance, I know all my Nikon D810’s are set to exactly 120mm, but they’re being detected as low as 100mm up to 120mm.

b) Even though all cameras are found, aligned and geometry seems to come out fine, several camera positions are clearly off by up to a 40 centimeters (e.g. in one scan the camera detected using 105mm is placed much further away from the subject than it’s supposed to be and a side camera is about 35cm lower than it actually is). These variations change from scan to scan and aren’t consistent.

Are there settings to improve these deviations specifically?

Thanks,
Jan

Hi Jan
Is it a fixed 50 camera setup or ? there are multiple ways how to solve it. One of the easiest is to have good background with non-repetitive patterns on walls, like newspaper etc.

I sort of like the idea that my small studio is all white for light-bouncing purposes. However, would movie-style tracking markers work, assuming they’re big enough and are of a random nature like a newspaper or do the walls need to be covered?
