It would speed up the process a lot if we could drag materials in the static mesh editor rather than having to search through a material index and figure out what replaces what. I could drag the material into the viewport, but that does nothing as the mesh does not save that, and there is no button to save into the mesh from what I ve seen.
Yea not sure why in 2024 this still isn’t implemented. Sometimes meshes have strange names, or unknown slots. As an artist I know what part of a model I want a certain material…like in the LEVEL editor I can just drag a material right onto the model. In the static mesh editor you have to ISOLATE, look over to the viewer, find what that slot represents…then drag your material back over to the LIST view. Moving eyes a lot, several clicks etc. Please add this!
