Hi!
I am planning to use UE4 if I get a new laptop(win it), but I am not sure what laptop can handle UE4. Could anyone tell me minimal UE4 requirements on laptop? I am planning to have NVIDIA GeForce GT680 chip or better, but I am not sure obut that and also about evrything else. I am planning to use it on Ubuntu 14.10 with latest NVIDIA binary drivers.
Not exactly what I meant. I just don’t know much about laptop’s GPUs and CPUs and I wanted to ask if GTX 680M can handle it(I think it should be better than GTX 470, but I’m nt sure) as well as ask if there are any differences between laptop and desktop CPUs. Also I wanna know if running on Linux Ubuntu slows it down a bit(using OpenGL)…
Hey Adriansnetlis,
I’ve provided you the system requirements as stated on the [UE4 FAQ][1] page. Please keep in mind these are the requirements, anything under these requirements may cause performance issues.
What are Unreal Engine 4’s system requirements?
For developing with UE4, we recommend a desktop PC with Windows 7 64-bit or a Mac with Mac OS X 10.9.2 or later, 8 GB RAM and a quad-core Intel or AMD processor, and a DX11 compatible video card. UE4 will run on desktops and laptops below these recommendations, but performance may be limited.
Thanks!
Hey Adriansnetlis,
I’ve looked up the difference between the two cards you had in question. GTX 680M does rank higher than GTX 470. As long as the graphics card that’s in your laptop is DX11 compatible with a good amount of memory, you shouldn’t have any complications. I’d also make sure that the laptop has at least 8GB of RAM in general.
Here is a link to Nvidia regarding the [GTX680M][1].
If you want more assistance from the community regarding what specifications they’re running, or what they believe is best you may want to visit the [Unreal Engine Forums][2].
Cheers!

Yep! Good luck, hope you get a great laptop!
So this GPU fits. Great! Now I just jave to win laptop and look out for other specs;)
Thanks! I don’t know if I win it, but that doesn’t sound so hard- 5 questions, 20 sec to think, answer on at least 4 and laptop is yours and… There is bonus option for one question- 60 secs what you can use browsing if you don’t know right answer. I really hope to replace my current PC with GT 610 and x.org drivers(it is not fully my, so I am not permitted to install NVIDIA 346 series) with a new, shiny, powerful laptop:D
