Minimum budget and recommended specs for a PC to run UEFN smoothly

In English:

Hey everyone :waving_hand:

I’m planning to get serious with UEFN and I’d love your advice.
What do you think is the minimum budget for a PC that can run UEFN well (smooth editing + playtesting)?

Also, are there any important things I should know before buying a PC for this? (recommended specs, common mistakes, CPU vs GPU vs RAM priorities, etc.)

Thanks in advance for your help :folded_hands:

Hi Kiwerne, Welcome to the Forums.

I’d say minimum budget would be 1,000$, but now with the increase in RAM prices maybe closer to 1,500?

CPU/Motherboard: AMD has been doing well lately - I’d go for an AM5 socket CPU (Core count does not really matter since UEFN is not multithreaded) - There’s also an argument for going with an AM4 socket CPU since that uses DDR4 RAM (currently reasonably priced) instead of DDR5.

If the CPU has onboard/integrated graphics you could technically have a smooth editing experience without even buying a GPU (only on low editor settings though) - Although working/playing at low quality with out fancy lighting / global illumination is very spartan.

RAM - Most motherboards have 4 RAM slots, so adding RAM in the future is a possibility. I’d say 16GB BARE MINIMUM , 32GB Recommended.

I recognize you said ‘buying a PC’ and not ‘building a PC’ - but PCpartpicker is a good place to start looking at what’s out there and how much certain aspects can cost.

Let me know if you have any further questions.
