Migrating assets from one project to another isn't working in UE5. Is it not working currently?

TL;DR - when I try to migrate assets in UE5, nothing happens. Is it broken? Is there a different way to do this?

I want to import the level and all of its dependencies from one project to another. My understanding was to go to the Content Drawer, right click the level and navigate to Asset Actions → Migrate, then put the assets in the project content folder I want it in. It sounds like it should provide a success or fail message when it’s done, based on the doc (Migrating Assets | Unreal Engine Documentation). However, what happens is the project I currently have open freezes for awhile then just goes back to normal with no success or fail message. The project I’m trying to add content into also does not have anything added to it. I’m relatively new to Unreal so it’s possible I’m doing something wrong, but it seems like such a simple process I don’t think I am… Is it broken currently? Is there a different/better way I should approach this, or at least a workaround?

Also having this issue - using UE5 with Windows 11 if that’s helpful. Trying to complete the “First Hour in Unreal Engine” tutorial and when Matt asks to migrate the level from the Unreal Learning Kit games project, this issue occurs.

Thanks, I tried this and it does migrate content from one project to another. However, now when I open the project I migrated the level into, it crashes anytime I load the level I added. The level was not crashing previously (within the old project), and it’s a fresh project otherwise. Anything I can try? It does give missing project settings errors when I try to load the level but before I can enable missing, it crashes. Attaching an image of the crash as well.

I am having issues migrating my daz3d characters & props from older 4.27 UE4 versions that worked fine. Nothing migrates properly and the Daz3D bridge crashes when porting.
If i just cut paste the entire project into content all textures are broken, skeleton is broken so can’t do that.

So no matter what i do in version 5.03 seems i can’t port anything over using the daz3d bridge i paid for on epic marketplace because it now crashes and doesn’t port anything, and when i try to migrate old projects they are totally broken graphics & bp’s…

Almost feels like i have been scammed huge money because i have invested a lot in gathering resources for projects only to have nothing work now with Unreal 5.

I thought i would give it a few versions waited till 5.03 and still barely anything has updated to the new versions… I expect the Daz3D bridge to work as it’s worth more then a stinking game i want use out of it!

Can someone fix the Daz3d too Unreal bridge as manually porting stuff is a nightmare moving across morphs & rigging skeletons.

Do you have enough storage?

When migrating in version 5.03 it doesn’t not seem to recognize the content folder the project is being installed too like it normally would.
Also even tho it has been updated the bridge between DAZ3D & Unreal 5 is broken i get this error message when trying to move anything using the bridges.
DAZStudio.exe caused ACCESS_VIOLATION in module “D:\Applications\64-bit\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\QtCore4.dll” at 0033:0000000051C43A64, QIODevice::isTextModeEnabled()+4 byte(s)
So even after todays update of the bridges nothing is working still in version 5.03.
Update: What i can do is convert in place old 4.27 files to version 5 then move the folders into the content folder in another project with a similar name for the full version 5.03 iv’e done this here with an old character i ported 6 months ago,

it works fine in 5
this way you get the old UE 4 mannequin & the new version 5 Mannequin, but seems there is no way to retarget mannequin 4 too 5 so anything made with UE4 blendshape animations stays as mannequin 4 it looks like and can’t be retargeted to 5.

I found my main reason for the access violation, seems there is no Unreal plugin installed in either the Install manager or Daz Central after installing it, here is a pic of what i mean, no file path can be located in the installed apps Daz3D side.

I was having the same issue migrating the lighting examples. It doesn’t work when i try to copy and paste. I got it to work when i manually clicked through all of the folders and then selected “select folder”.

Thank you! I just solved this project frozen problem by selecting “No” while migrating. :grinning:

Placing project in window shared folder prevented migration. And, unless I open this project with admin, I got a permission not enough saving error. So, don’t place your working project in shared folder.

This is a complete nightmare for me atm… To get my asset pack accepted for engine 5.0-5.3 I need my 5.3 project migrated to 5.0 or I will be forced to reimport 43 meshes and 560 textures. I will then have to recreate 140 material instances and LODs for every mesh. Why has this bug still not been addressed??? Why for the love of God have they updated from 5.0 all the way to 5.3 without fixing such a major bug with such an important feature?
