Microtransaction cut for Epic

I know this isn’t the right place to ask for legal counseling and what is said shouldn’t be taken as such, and so that being said I have the following questions:

If the game I’m making is free to play but it has microtransactions and the payment system DOES NOT use an Epic/Unreal Engine system for processing it, do you still have to pay Epic X% amount of the in game transactions? And here I’m talking about a sum/% of money beside that 5% if you have more then $1 mil.

And the same I’m wandering for Steam, if you DO NOT use their Steam Wallet.

I think so, yes! But again, as you stated; you should consider consulting a professional.

I’ve read the EULA, and in there microtransactions are part of the Worldwide Gross Revenue which in turn is part of that 5% Royalty Revenue, which doesn’t take affect until the first $1,000,000 for each product made using Unreal Engine (not for Oculus Store, which has a bigger threshold of $5,000,000), this is at least as of 29.03.2023 (who knows later when UE gets even more attention/use/adoption what changes will be made).

As for Steam I can’t say yet how that works, but from what I read from non Steam statements, you have to pay if you are using their wallet.
