hello everyone! I am a video game enthusiast from China, and here I would like to showcase my independent science fiction shooting game (METEOR. EXPEDITION) created through learning to use Unreal Engine. I have loved all kinds of video games and animated movies since I was young. Two years ago, I decided to become an independent game producer. Through learning on the Internet, I finally want to complete an independent game of my own. This work combines elements of my childhood favorite AI robots, alien monsters, space warships, sci-fi mecha, and more. I appreciate the grand visions of artists from the last century for the future space age, and I love the magnificent collision of steel and flames, interstellar and distant voyages. This is my debut work. As an independent game and not born in the game production industry, I chose a hardcore realistic visual style instead of 2D pixel or cartoon style. Although this would increase the difficulty and workload of production, it is indeed the case. I spent a lot of time perfecting the visual representation of the model and scene, but it was all worth it. Why did I choose this? Because modern game engines are really powerful, for someone like me who is new to them, it’s really amazing. I have a deep memory of the pixel based graphics from my childhood FC game console era, and I am amazed by the almost realistic visual performance in modern engines!
I simply put the model character into an environment with Lumen lighting to get almost realistic images, which is really cool and perfectly fits my childhood fantasy. I want to see huge mecha robots passing by me, high-speed fighter jets flying over my head, and all of this is real and interactive.
Using the built-in water material of the engine produces a great visual effect. The transparent glass material in the center of the picture is clearly reflected! Simply adding materials and adjusting lighting can result in excellent visual performance, making production work very easy. Of course, the overall game production volume is still a bit large, and I don’t know how long it will take to fully complete it. I plan to release a simple trial demo by 2025.

Here is a small advertisement featuring a handsome mecha. I have already listed it on FAB. Interested friends can take a look. I am currently making this game as a single player, but my resources and funding are limited. I hope everyone can support and exchange ideas while learning and making. We play games for happiness, creating games is creating happiness, and making games themselves is also a kind of happiness. Watching children’s fantasies step by step turn into reality through our own hands is a kind of happiness and joy, isn’t it!

Hi there @zlxc00,
Welcome to the Unreal Engine forums. So nice to see a new face around here. Hope you’re well Just wanted to quickly pop in and say this mech guy looks sick. I just want to see more! If you don’t mind me asking, do you have any gameplay cinematics yet?
