Metahumans walk out of frame, get culled and don't come back!

I have a strange problem. I have a metahuman setup to be animated by live data from my Perception Neuron mocap suit which works just fine UNTIL the character walks out of the camera shot. The animation has them walking back into shot but they never reappear. Put the camera a bit farther back and this doesn’t happen.
The only thing I can think of is something weird going on with culling that maybe stops the character from receiving animation data when it is far enough out of shot.

When animating characters this way the “location” of the character remains stationary and the mocap data gets applied to the skeleton…so technically the position of the metahuman bp never changes.

Anyway, this is very odd and does not happen with UE4.26, only with 5
