Metahumans "Missing Project Settings"?

I didn’t see any information on this and I think by default everyone starts getting this once they import a MetaHuman. And since uses can vary, and some of the settings are experimental, I’d like to understand it if anyone has insight?

My plan is just using heads for basic game characters.
I don’t plan on using facial motion capture or anything fancy. Maybe down the road.

And I’m able to use heads without enabling those settings. So I wonder if I’m better off dismissing it, or if they may be beneficial? I’m cautious of enabling experimental features more aimed at cinematics, etc.

So does anyone know what any of these do?

  • r.GPUSkin.Support16BitBoneIndex = True
  • r.GPUSkin.UnlimitedBoneInfluences = True
  • r.SkinCache.CompileShaders = True
  • r.SkinCache.DefaultBehavior = 0
  • SkeletalMesh.UseExperimentalChunking = 1

Hello, I had the same, and found this

It says this is normal at first, press Enable Missing to solve it.

Hope I could help!

Thanks! That gives some description of what they do, so it’s a start.
I’ve been using it with “Remove Guidelines”.

I’m still not sure what they do in a practical sense or how they might affect performance, so I’ll leave it for now. I know MetaHumans not designed to be entirely game friendly. But if I notice any issues I can refer to this.

I’m mainly using the head at the moment. And UseExperimentalChunking for example sounds like it is meant to help possible issues blending head + torso.

UnlimitedBoneInfluences sounds like it might help face animation since that’s where most of the bones are, but I’m not doing any of that yet.

I’m curious about SkinCache. I wonder if it makes skin look any better.

ForceLastTickGroup sounds like it’s Groom related. And Groom as far as I can tell is impractical for games.
